What Motivates Men to Hate Others And Want to Hurt Them?

Ever since seeing “It’s A Wonderful Life” for the first time in the early 1970’s, I have loved the simple message of “faithfulness, hard work, and goodness.” The film’s hero, George Bailey, a gifted young man who wanted to travel the world in search of adventure, ended up stuck in his small town of Bedford Falls, plodding along running his father’s business, “The Bailey Building and Loan.” As the movie opens, an Angel named Clarence P. Oddbody is given the assignment of helping George see that his life really did matter, and it was worth living. In this week’s Blog, we’re not going to talk specifically about George Bailey, but rather his nemesis, Henry Potter, the richest man in Bedford Falls. Old Man Potter, as he’s disdainfully called, is a pitiless man obsessed with money and control over the lives of others. But while he exerts formidable control over Bedford Falls, he doesn’t use his power for good, but rather for harm. The question that I’ve often pondered is: “What motivates the super-wealthy to want control over others, especially to cause them harm?” Why would a man who has 1 Billion need 2 Billion? Or 10 Billion? Or 100 Billion, or even 1 Trillion? And what would a family who controlled $500 Trillion, do with that much money? For all these examples, it’s no longer about buying things, it’s about exerting control over the lives of those around them.
This world has had many wealthy rulers and oligarchs over the past 6,000 + years, and all of them had an obsession with wealth, power and control. Some used their powers to indulge in “wine, women and song” – and sad to say, even young boys and girls. Nero married his 11 year old Eunuch, which I guess, shows there really is “nothing new under the sun.” Wealthy men and women, removed from a relationship with God by the Fall, live hedonistic pleasure-seeking lives of sensual indulgence. And most of these men (and some women) usually paid the price and died at a young age. Many others, desperate to leave their mark of achievements on the world, drove vast armies of slaves to build monuments to honor their names. Sadly, the general rule is, most Monarchs / Emperors and Wealthy Oligarchs ruled with a total disregard for the poor masses under their control. A very few actually tried to rule justly with concern for their own citizenry, but they are rare exceptions to the rule.
Many men throughout history have created or aspired to rule a vast number of global territories and built great empires in the process. The names include: Nimrod, Nebuchadnezzar, Xerxes, Cyrus, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Constantine, Suleiman, Charlemagne, Genghis Khan and Napoleon. Even a few Spanish, Dutch and British Monarchs might be included. In our modern era, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong and even an American President might be considered. All these men and their empires rose to power, and for a while ruled vast regions of the world, only to be deposed or replaced, and their Empires and their supposed power diminished. Most of these great leaders were concerned with their own people or their country’s standing in the world. But there have always been those few who believed they were “destined for a larger purpose,” one of joining all the world together to pursue “utopian or global goals.” These larger goals seem to motivate many in Western governments today to create: “A New World Order.”
The rise of “world banking” came about with the rise of “world commerce” and followed the great age of exploration. So for the last 300 years, there have been other forces at work seeking tyrannical control over the “world’s system.” Here is the infamous quote by the father of International Banking, Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744 – 1812):
“Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws.”
I should tell you, there are many who dispute that Mayer Rothschild or his son Nathan ever made this comment or anything like it. They claim it’s a conspiracy theory of right-wing kooks. Let me honestly say, there is far too much actual evidence that either he said it, or said something like it. In practice, they believed every word of it, and have governed the world as such for the past two hundred years. International Banking was the real beginning of what we now call “The New World Order.” And it’s my contention that their long-term goal is to once again try and build the “Tower of Babel.” So, rather than show examples that the World Bank has a penchant to fund, and be on “all sides of every major world conflict” in the past 100 years, let me point out that these are the Elites who appear to control most of what happens on planet earth. I say appear to control, because in reality, the Lord, the God of Heaven and Earth has always been Sovereign over the whole world. Nebuchadnezzar, another pompous leader of a transient Empire acknowledged as much after living seven years as a beast, driven from men. Here’s what he learned as recorded in the Book of Daniel:
“At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, What have you done?” (Daniel 4:34-35).
As always, I want to be careful how I might ascribe motives to those moderns who seek to control their fellow man. Some of them were and still are self-deluded to the point that they believed they were doing mankind a service. Often, men with such absolute control and power become cynical and numbed to the heartless cruelty they visit on others. They tell themselves that in the long run they’re actually alleviating human misery. As crazy as it sounds, I believe there is reason to believe that even Adolph Hitler believed his Third Reich or Third Empire, was resurrecting the Holy Roman Empire once again, kind of a Pax Germanna. Hitler and his National Socialist Workers Party (Nazi Party) envisioned a golden era of scientific advancement, and a renaissance of learning that would eventually lead to a great time of peace and prosperity as the highly evolved Aryan race ushered in a eutopia for mankind, a heaven on earth.
George Soros is a similar man - a man who has written 14 books, and who believes “Capitalism” is inherently evil. The irony is, George Soros personally exemplifies greed and money. So, in order to destroy the system that promotes greed and money, he literally uses Billions of Dollars to destabilize Western governments and their currencies. He’s also very determined to promote anarchy across American cities by funding the election of “anti-police and anti-law-and-order” district attorneys in virtually every major American city. He also has his fingerprints all over the funding for most of the ANTIFA and BLM riots over the past decade, including the Paid Activist-Rioters who torched Ferguson, Missouri in 2015, and Minneapolis in 2020. He’s also one of the funders of the Illegal Caravans that have recruited millions to enter illegally from Central America. Soros himself would probably explain that he’s using crime, anarchy and Illegal Voter Immigration through his Open Borders Society to destabilize Capitalist Societies – ALL, SO HE CAN REPLACE THEM WITH THE NEW WORLD ORDER. One thing is very clear in George Soros’ writings, HE TOTALLY DISTRUSTS THE COMMON MAN, AND HATES INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM! Like all Elite Demagogues throughout history, he is convinced he knows better than everyone else. For those of you who remember Old Man Potter in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” he too had a disdain for common people, despising what he believed to be their pitiful and meaningless lives.
As the movie progresses, our selfless hero, George Bailey, reaches a crisis as the Bailey Building and Loan comes up $8,000 short on Christmas Eve in the middle of a Bank audit. Desperate, he contemplates jumping from a local bridge into frigid waters so his family can collect his life insurance to pay off the debt. But when his guardian angel, Clarence Oddbody arrives on the scene, in a strange turn of events it’s George who actually saves Clarence from drowning. Later, George tells Clarence that “it would have been better if he had never been born.” So, the angel grants him his wish. Next, we see George running through the town that was once Bedford Falls. George notices the name has changed to “Pottersville.” And Pottersville is not the wholesome working class community that Bedford Falls had been. Instead of Churches, businesses and neighborhoods, we see Taverns, Gambling and Vice on every corner.
Yes, the Potters and Soroses of this world never build anything wholesome or good. Just look at the results of their “social engineering” that has created poverty in urban Pottersvilles in cities like Chicago, Detroit, Newark, Washington DC, Los Angeles and St. Louis. Their greed and disdain for humanity only brings more human misery. But as George Bailey learns, his one little business, the Bailey Building and Loan, had kept Old Man Potter from squeezing out young families, many of them immigrants who just wanted to make a better life. George Bailey, never thinking of himself, helped an entire community build better lives through home ownership and brought stability and virtue to Bedford Falls.
I guess I haven’t fully answered the “why question” very well. But you readers already know, it’s sin in the human heart, that empty void from being separated from the God of Heaven, that urges men to play God with the lives of others. Many of the world’s worst despots have justified their evil actions and callous cruelty to their fellow man, ALL IN THE NAME OF BUILDING A NEW WORLD ORDER! An order in which our “betters,” that is the Smart Elites, make life and death decisions for the rest of us. As we now watch the world-wide child trafficking rings being exposed across Western Societies, it’s ironic that these same wealthy oligarchs who are funding and promoting such human exploitation are the same ones who guilt everyone else to pay more taxes (to themselves) FOR THE CHILDREN! Like the comical adage says: “I LOVE HUMANITY, IT’S JUST THE PEOPLE I CAN’T STAND!” The Potters, Soroses and Rothschilds who control virtually every “Pottersville” across this sick world, will have a day of reckoning. Listen to Paul’s warning:
“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others” (1 Timothy 6:17-18, New Living Translation).
